Adults usually ask the question “what if?” from a negative, defensive or critical perspective. The question is meant probe the potential harm in an action we are considering. The problem with this is that such questions are rarely mobilising, inspiring or motivational. It puts the break on action, and sabotages your momentum.
Children on the other hand, frame the “what if?” question from a much more wonderous, expansive and positive perspective. They see it as being loaded with potential and I believe it is partly why they have such an incredible imagination and sense of wonder when compared to adults.
So today’s video challenges us to intentionally review all our “what if’s” from both perspectives, because we need some of that child-like perspective to stimulate the emergence of fresh and creative ideas, it helps us solve problems and also helps us to maintain strength and resilience when times get tough and we get prone to negative thinking.
